Kefalonia's beaches, are sandy in the south and with pebbles in the north. The most famous beach and the registered trademark of the island is Mirtos, with its white pebbles and blue waters. Starting from Argostoli you will meet the popular beaches Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos, with fine sand, canteens and bars , the organized beaches -with deckchairs and beach umbrellas- Mhnia, Ammes, St.Chelis, Ligia and Avithos and the beach of St. Thomas in Trafliata. In the southern part, there are the beaches Trapezaki, Lourdas,Limenia,Makria Petra, Lazarus, and the beaches of Scala and Kateleiou. The beaches Antisamos and Karavomylos in the Sami are very graphic. On the north side of the island the beaches suitable for swimming are Emplysi and Fwki in Fiskardo, Agia Efimia and Mirtos. Finally, in western Kefalonia, there are the beaches of Platia Ammo, Petanwn, Megas Lakos, The beach Xi with its strange reddish sand and tha beach of Athera.
